2008 attendance was 27,673 over the 4 days of the fair.  2009, with two days of rain, was 20,930. The commercial building will have the Miss Houghton County Queen Pageant, Local Music, and Senior Citizen's Day.  Other entertainment will include the Kavijat Dance group, Brandon Styles, Impressionist and Magician, Kenya Safari Acrobats, Whispering Pines Animal Kingdom, Sick Air FMX, and Megasaurus.  Call 482-6200 for more information.

Dear Commercial Exhibitor,

The 2010 Houghton County Fair will be held from August 26th  to the 29th.  Booths will be offered for 1,2,3, or all 4 days.  The price will be the same regardless of the duration of your stay, but you will not be required to stay for all four days if it is pre-arranged and you tear down after the close of the building for that day.  The fair is now accepting Mastercard and VISA.  Call the office (906)482-6200 for more information if you choose this option.  The fair’s new fax number is 906-483-2101. Dogs are not allowed on the grounds.

 Admission Passes:  Each booth renter will be eligible to purchase up to two (2)  four-day passes for half price, or $10.00 each per booth rented.  This year 2 passes will be included with each booth space rented. If you need additional passes, they may be purchased at the gate for $7 per day $20 at the gate or $15 in advance for the four-day pass.  Please note:  You are responsible for getting passes to workers for your booth.  The gate workers expect everyone to have a pass prior to getting in, or to purchase a pass at the gate. Please let your workers know this ahead of time. We will also provide each vendor with ONE parking pass to get you near the building to unload or load, and then to park behind the arena. The parking  pass shall be hung in the window of the parked vehicle so it can be identified so the staff can find you to move it if necessary. All passengers in the vehicle need a separate admission pass prior to entering the “vendor” gate. This should ease some of the concerns expressed in your suggestions from last year.

Insurance:  You are responsible for having insurance for your booth.  The amount of coverage will be determined with the type of booth you have.  Liability, at a minimum, shall be the following:

Non-food vendors - $25,000

Food vendors with food pre-packaged or prepared off site - $50,000

Food vendors with on site preparation - $1,000,000

 

 Dogs are prohibited on the grounds during fair hours.  If you travel with a dog, call the fair office, 482-6200 and options for arrangements will be presented.

Please read over all of the enclosed information carefully.  Fair Board policy does not restrict duplication of non-food vendors.  A current list of vendors will be made available upon request.  I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.  You can reach me at home at (906)482-3828 or you can contact the fair office at (906)482-6200 on Wednesdays from noon to 3 p.m.
